Which kernel did you run before? Somewhere after 2.6.20-6 there was a change to the bcm43xx-driver which makes a newer firmware necessary. Did you try to fetch the newer firmware with an up-to-date bcm43xx-fw- cutter? On my laptop 2.6.20-13-generic works well with my BCM4318 (r2). -- bcm43xx
