I'm running Tribe 5 on an Inspiron 6400 and my mute and volume keys are
not working. They are recognized but they don't function properly. If I
press Mute the notification icon appears on my desktop but the system
doesn't mute. The same with Volume keys, the notification icon appears
but the sound

In gutsy tribe 1 all keys are automatically configured, except "Launch music
player". It has to be done manually in gnome-keybinding-properties.

Volume keys (mute, up, down) are properly configured by default. For the
other mentioned keys to work, you have to manually do it in System ->
Preferences -> Keyboard shortcuts.
Other hotkeys (Fn+something) are properly configured.
