maybe one of them updates has fixed this problem? :)

Unity prevents Google Earth from running - works under GNOME

This is an odd issue. I have no problem running google earth under Unity
and the nvidia proprietary driver (gtx 560 as well).
can you run 'google-earth' in a terminal and post the output for us?

get the same issue with i.e gnome-shell? What error does google earth
display when exiting? What videocard and driver do you use?

I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 (64-bit) and this problem only occurs with Unity.
If I log in as GNOME then Google Earth runs fine.
My video card is: Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 Ti
with the latest proprietary Nvidia driver.
There are no error messages that appear when I run Google Earth in Unity
