Public bug reported: That's it.
When you add a non-admin user account, it can't create a share until you add it manually, using an admin account, to the sambashare user group. When trying to create a share using Nautilus as a standard user (non- admin) you'll get a very descriptive error message printed right into the window. That is, descriptive for somebody with a lot of *nix XP, otherwise completely bewildering. ** Affects: ubuntu-meta (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: group permission samba share standard -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/995596 Title: Standard Ubuntu user accounts are not on sambashare group by default, thus can't create shares To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-meta/+bug/995596/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
