Public bug reported: This computer is running Precise 64 bit upgraded from Oneiric 64 bit. Sound was working fine until today 5/13/12 Updated with the latest updates and sound does not work. Computer is dual boot with Win 7, in Win 7 the microphone works fine, so I do not think it is a hardware problem
Tried following instructions using alsamixer, unmuted mic - but it didn't help The maximum I get is a sort of hissing/white noise recorded No idea why this has stopped working. Skype does not capture sound, Sound recorder does not capture sound. Audacity does not capture anything but a faint hiss.
