I´m not sure If I´m right here, but I´ve got the same issue. After a few weeks
the failure was gone like Steven Beer discribed.
However, after the latest kernel update the problem was present again.
Can someone confirm this failuremode ?

after latest kernel update from Ubuntu, I've the issue again.
With kernel 3.4.4 the problem is gone.

With Ubuntu kernel 3.2.0-25.40 from proposed-updatey repo the standby
problem gone away. Thanks!

Today the same resume error appears again with fresh install of Ubuntu precise
and precise-updates - NOT proposed.
In the new attached screenshots are some more information than last time.

The error also occur with 3.2.0-24.37 - but very seldom.

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v3.4kernel[1] (Not a kernel in the daily directory). Once
In Ubuntu 12.04 with precise-updates (last test on 10th march) and before the
error does not occur. The resume from standby error occures since I've
activated precise-proposed updates and the kernel 3.2.0-24.38. In the
upstream kernel version (tested with 3.4rc6, in rc7 folder there was only
