I have Compiz installed but I hardly ever have it running. I never had it running when that problem occured. But the problem has (magically) been fixed now. I had it when I used the beta release of Feisty Fawn (ubuntu) But after a kernel update it stopped happening. htmlDIV

Hi Kristian, Thank you for your reply. I will try to give you more information. It starts when I start Amarok. My system monitor goes straight up to 100% Altough in my processes list there isn't any program that consumes a lot of cpu power. Not even Amarok. Amarok starts with updating it's

Thanks for the info. So, can you quit out of amarok and then try to determine what process is slowing the system down? Are you sure it is CPU utilization and not disk utilization? Here are some commands to try in the terminal. After you close amarok (is it still running in the background?): $
