boot sequence by loading first the hd in the Promise ide controller as
well as I installed grub or lilo on that same hd. Not on the master of
the motherboard's ide controller.

Well, I have the device in my hands at this time. It doesn't work for me

My laptop fails to boot the kubuntu feisty cd. Edgy booted fine. Ubuntu
feisty cd also boots fine.
The cd boots to the menu where is select "Start Kubuntu or install". At
that point the little "loading" text appears and the computer hangs.
Once in a while it get to around 74%
