I can confirm this problem, it's still present in Ubuntu Gutsy 7.10.
Versions are Totem 2.20.0 and GStreamer 0.10.14. My problem is exactly
the same, I experienced non-fluent video playback with the "H264" codec
(I'm sure it's not my hardware, because the same video file plays fine
on my Windows XP

Using Gutsy on a Radeon 9700 I get the same behavor. X hangs when Compiz is
enabled and I have to reset the machine. Also X hangs sometimes even when I'm
not using Compiz at all.

I did a very stupid thing but it worked. I copied the directory with the
firmwares:
sudo cp -r /lib/firmware/2.6.22-14-386
/lib/firmware/2.6.22-14-generic
Now it works. The problem was, that the driver couldn't find the
appropriate firmware "ipw2200-bss.fw", which was in the /lib

I confirm this thing here on my Acer Aspire 5680 Laptop.
The application switcher window goes to the left and a bit down, for me, just a
bit after it shows.
It doesn't happen always but, when this behaviour begins, it doesn't end until
compiz is restarted.

I am experiencing the same problem with the same video hardware reported
by dankegel. For me, to reproduce:
- Start Blender from the command line
- Switch workspace by pressing ctrl-alt-right arrow.
- Switch workspace back

Gutsy no longer mounts ext usb drive as sync, but is now using "flush" which

i am having the same issues on my r31 using gusty, before hibernate
worked in feisty, but suspend was flaky it would sometimes work, but
most of the time screen would not come back

I'm also a bit confused. I installed gutsy in a fresh vm, and installed
emacs22. I cannot confirm the ugly fonts.
Can you perhaps give more information about your system? how did you
install and customize it?

I also encountered this behavior.
Azureus crashes if I double-click a torrent being downloaded, or if I
choose "Show Details" from the right-click menu.

This is also happening on my desktop (Nvidia graphics) and laptop (Intel 915
graphics).
It's when the Compiz Desktop Effects are turned and is specifically related to
the Wobbly Windows feature.
Install compiz-settings-manager and turn off wobbly and the defect
disappears.
