How I solved this problem:
I uninstalled the broken libgphoto2 package from synaptic.
I ran the command whereis to see if libgphoto was installed somewhere
It gave me /usr/local/lib/libgphoto2* etc
I went to /usr/local and moved all libgphoto2 related libraries to a backup
folder.
Then
I belive this bug also affects Debian, so I've added it, pending
confirmation.

only the 2.6.20-16.28 kernel of the 2.6.20-16 series runs on this

looks good when the panel is set at a width of 24, but blurs out when

Bingo. I had previously switched the theme to Crux.
Unfortunately, I have since removed and re-installed OOo, and I no
longer see the problem. So switching back to the Human theme might not
tell us anything useful. Also, I'm reluctant to test further as this is
on one of my production machines,
roaming mode works ok... try using static ip address and with WPA-PSK
TKIP. it doesn't work on my part.

slow SATA performance, see bug #119730. I measured reading time with
`cat Some350MBFile/dev/null' and got 97 seconds, which leads to
