I have been running 8.04 (pre-release) for some time now. Things were
working smoothly till now (Feb 16, 2008). Now, an auto-update caused
this problem and now I am unable to upgrade/install any packages. I keep
getting a message that there is a broken package that needs to be fixed.

It's a shame this is listed as 'wishlist'. It's more than a matter of

Maybe update manager could prevent installing the new driver if it
doesn't support the hardware anymore, and reverts the changes to

Yes I have tried the permissions change as well and it works. Two problems: An
ordinary
user should not face this. Those permissions may potentially pose a security
issue in some situations.

When trying to access a LTO-3 drive attached to a Emulex Corporation

Runing on kubuntu here, I am having the same problem. Connection to msn drops
after a few seconds, and if I try to send a message to one of my contacts, i
