I just got this bug today when using Update Manager to update to Firefox
3.0.5 on Ubuntu 8.10. After rebooting it wouldn't go away, then I tried

of gnome-terminal I was using became unresponsive. I opened up another
terminal and tried to kill -9 the frozen bash process; this caused the
second terminal to freeze

Just checking in, saying I have this problem also. I run a lot of apps
with wine but I'm not sure if it wine or flash (or neither). All I know

running an MSI video card. I'd have to open up the computer to see what
model it is. This is an old computer that I am trying and so far liking

I have the same problem. The screen just gone black after gdm. but if I press
ctrl + alt + f1 then press ctrl + alt + f7, i can get the screen to work
properly...
After I added (Option "UseDisplayDevice" "DFP") in xorg.conf, it still didn't
work...
Anyone knows how to fix it?

Yes, it worked flawless before. I've not tried the workaround in
309314, but if I select Collate, it works fine. Pain when printing
multiple copies of select pages within a doc though.
