I still have this problem in intrepid with the current kernel version
2.6.27-11-generic x86_64.
When I press the "eject" button, the light turns green (signaling that
it is okay to remove) and the cd drive is no longer mounted, however it
freezes as soon as I pull the level and actually unplug th

message to type Yes and confirm. I tried with a 'y' without success.

For those who is interested in setting Fn keys with acpid.
As it has been already mentioned above in this thread, if you simply write
nvclock -S -5
in your sonybright.sh it won't work unless you restart the daemon after login.
Of course you can do this restart automatically on every startup.
After discussing this with some other triagers, we decided that it is
most likely a kernel bug since it is a USB device failing after
suspend/resume, so we will file it under the package "linux".
You should also check that your BIOS is up to date, as this problem
could be related to the BIOS not c
