and also crashed my system completely using the fglrx drivers.
Commenting out fglrx as my driver let me boot into X, I'm guessing it's

The network manager applet shows the available connections ( I didn't notice it

I suggest you all read the discussion in the debian bug before
commenting further.
5.3.x will hit unstable soon and it will have it Off by default. In
Ubuntu I guess you'll have to wait till development of 9.10 and the
merge from unstable will happen again.

I can confirm what Martin Pitt said: I have the "Buddy list" task bar
button on *every* workspace now. Before, it was only on the workspace
where the pidgin window was openend.

I'm still in the soupI have one small success, as stated previously,
when I download updates, and cannot install them I go to a lesser level
of Ubuntu and install the updates, now in the lesser level, using the
jomtois directions, I can get a Terminal window up. This is still not
