Me too, the latest updates do not fix this on my eeepc-701. I also tried
adding the proposed updates repository and no charm. I am not sure

I have 2 Soundcards, Ubuntu Jaunty, all updates applied.
Sometimes it seems the first soundcard gets disabled, and audio stream is moved
to the second card.
First Soundcard is then no more available in pavucontrol.

I'm nearly certain that this is the same bug as GNOME bug 566831. g-p-m
didn't used to notice when power was plugged in while the computer is
asleep.
This needs to be retested on karmic to see if it is gone. I'll start
draining my battery now. :)
