I have this problem and, for me, it *isn't* fixed by the 2.7.1 drivers.
Here is the relevant section from my Xorg.0.log file:-

Confirmed, pressing the wireless disable/enable button springs it back
to working state.
For some reason the systems boots with the device disabled...

also affected is firefox playing youtube videos
just want to put audio out on my other soundcard, vlc, rhythmbox all use
the settings made with system->settings->sound, only the ubuntu theme
sounds and youtube videos sound isnt affected by these settings

On further thought, I believe that this is more appropriately handled as
a support question than as a bug. I believe the cause of this is an
errant "sudo" in your sources.list file, which is what the "grep"
command from my previous comment would hopefully confirm. In that case,
we can fix this for
