I think the outcome is serious enough (ie a trashed partition) that it
warrants a backport, at least for installed systems if not the install
CDs. It might be argued that most people using the install CDs won't
have ext4 partitions to resize yet since it only became available with
Jaunty.

It has to be merged, not synced! The changes introduced in libmtp
package from 0.3.7-4 up to 0.3.7-7 are debian-specific. And changes

They're moved out of the X driver into the kernel itself. In the
process, the quirks are redesigned to work a bit differently, and so

Update:
No crashes on jaunty-proposed, although I have not stressed the box much
yet.
No crashes on RC2 (1:84+dfsg-0ubuntu12.1~rc2ppa3) in 11 days (since
upgrade to RC2), and I *have* stressed the box.

I had the same problem: Ubuntu 8.04, Firefox 3.0.11, always crashing
when accessing Flash videos, especially YouTube.
Jennifer, belg4mit: Do you have FlashBlock installed? I found that deactivating
it resolved the issue for me.
If deactivating FlashBlock helps, the problem might lie with the add-
