Okay, I thought ufw was enable during the samba installed. I did not install or
activate it manual.
I think it would be to hard to figure out why it was enabled on my system.
I second, that a firewall should not open any ports automatically without user
interaction.

I'm having the exact same problem after upgrading to Karmic. I've used
Ubuntu since Feisty and this is the first time I ever experienced
problems with X forwarding on SSH. It worked fine on Jaunty. Basically

works fine, along with java using the openjdk plugin, icedtea6-plugin.

After upgrading to ubuntu 9.10, i can't add ape file to rhythmbox. I see

This bug is upstream, apperently.
I think its severity should not be low though, as now I have problems
to display a normal folder content.

I have the same problem with tvtime at Karmic 9.10 on Intel 852GM and
AVerMedia Cardbus TV/Radio E501R. Although, the command
