Same problem here. In 9.04 Dolphin was able to access smb shares, in
9.10 it cannot. Instead it repeatedly asks for authentication

This happens to me in karmic with ftp as well.
Whether it is ubuntu's fault or not, there needs to be a fix. Throwing
up your hands just makes it impossible for a lot of people to use
Ubuntu.

it looks like your metacity package doesn't come from the -proposed or -main
repository. Downgrading it and upgrading metacity-common to the version
-proposed should fix your problem.
To do this open a terminal and enter the following command:
$ sudo apt-get install metacity=1:2.28.0-0ubuntu2 me
I think the patch looks good, just modify the autotools bits like i
posted on the wiki.
There is a problem with the icon, which we think needs to be fixed in
the theme. The battery icon is scaled down to much, can you please file
a bug against the humanity icon theme for that? Unless you have ot
setting top level task to Fix Released as it was missed.

This is a side effect of bug 519855
The workaround is to open a terminal and run the following command:
$ cd /lib/udev
$ sudo ln -s firmware firmware.sh
$ sudo dpkg --configure -a
Or wait a few hours until the update is available on your mirror.
Don't forget to remove the symlink before upgrading

My bug 502938 is essentially the same as this, but specifically for
NetBSD.
I hope to be able to put some time in on this 'real soon now'. For the
moment the most suitable way to boot NetBSD at least is via chainloader
using an os-prober script as above. For NetBSD (doesn't seem to need
the slice
karmic has disk monitoring and testing tools that match most of this
description. i suggest any additional features are filed individually
against Palimpsest
