I just tried out the patch. It apparently refers to an older version of
the source file if I interpret the output from patch correctly, but it
was applied fine and resolves the issue for me.

Well, right. That's most probably it. Thank you. I feel little stupid
for not finding it on my own. I was too busy (and tired) fixinig trivial
issues in dh-make-php :/
OTOH, I will monitor the situation and resubmit this request when the
php-pear issue will be solved.

I *was* having the same problem here in Jaunty. This should be a bug,
and should be fixed. It was not a mime-type issue for me (though I saw
