I use 3 machines. One with ATI graphics, one with nVidia and a laptop
with Intel. It happens on all systems and I *never* preserve home
directory. I installed Lucid since beta came out and it was fresh
install several times. This issue is still present. Just now I'm
watching double BT icons,
Oh, forgot to mention. It also happens on i386 and amd64 Ubuntu. So it's not
graphic driver, it's not architecture but must be something with gnome-panel.
Can desktop-effects interfere with panel?

I confirm the bug on my HP dv6220eu.
Pull down menus (gnome-menu) and most of the keyboard are dead after pressing
the hardware touchpad disable button.
The only workaround to re-enable keyboard and menus is to kill
gnome-settings-daemon, then start it again.

I have a Compaq 1200 laptop (12xl300 to be exact). When I got it, it had
ME on it. Knowing how it is, I decided to install Ubuntu. All I had was
a 9.04 disk. Installed and worked without a hitch. I decided to upgrade
to 9.10 online. We do have a slow Internet connection at

One last thing: When booted up, it says my battery is fully charged when
plugged in, no matter the percentage. So the battery slowly discharges

I am using lucid lynx from its release candidate version on my i845
architecture desktop. I am regularly facing crashes due to black screen
on the the monitor. Also i could not enable my visual effects to either

Did you install usb-modeswitch? I have bought a Huawei E1692 the other
day. My old E220 worked pretty out-of-the-box after a firmware upgrade
but the E1692 only showed up as USB storage. Installing usb-modeswitch
makes the device switch to modem automatically (triggered by udev).

Upon updating to Lucid the Mesa drivers seem to be clobbered by fglrx
drivers on Intel Based video drivers.

Having the same problem ATI Radeon 9600 XT Never winter nights work fine
in ubuntu 9.10 after upgrading to 10.04 got the same problems with
displaying text charscters in main menu and in game journal,log etc..
