This may be related to the known issue where the Gnome keyring will

Dustin has suggested this before and while it would make our lives as
developers easier, I don't like it from a security standpoint.
The package mfc8840dlpr is a third-party package (from Brother). You
also do not need to install both mfc8840dlpr and brother-lpr-drivers-
laser1, as both packages are a driver for your printer. One driver is
enough.

I have:
-Upgraded alsa to 1.0.23
-Set "options snd-hda-intel model=lifebook" in the end of alsa.conf
-installed pavucontrol
-lower the right channel of the microphone
...but the internal mic still dont work on my 1001px with 10.04
The input section of the sound settings offer "Line
in+Microphone1
Uh oh. You mentioned glxgears. Now this will never get fixed.
