We don't use networkmanager but configure the interfaces through
/etc/network/interfaces all the time.. But we still have this problem.

One more thing: I was told that the kernel bug-reporting instructions
you referenced in comment #28 are incorrect. (See the initial discussion
linked from the kernel bug.)
What's the best way to get them updated? Should I simply email the page

Actually *I'm* wrong about the bug reporting instructions being wrong.
They're technically correct, but they seem to imply that one should go
straight to the kernel bugzilla, instead of the kernel mailing lists.
So it might still be useful to emphasise the use of the mailing lists
for bug
The ideal scenario to help debugging this would be to get the kernel log
during a system freeze through a serial console, but I guess your laptop
does not have a serial port.
The other thing that *could* help finding the cause of this issue would
be to compare the logs of a kernel that is known
Why is it even in the repositories if the current release is around 2
years old? The package should be dropped if noone is going to maintain
it, because then at least it doesn't give the (false) impression that
you can get an up to date version from the repository.

Doing a do-release-upgrade from 10.04 server to 12.04 server breaks the
configuration in /etc/nslcd.conf. Custom modifications are partially
commented out, at least the directive bindpw is commented out which
leaves nslcd non functioning after the release upgrade.

installed post-installation script returned error exit status 126
NACK on the fix. The underscore is there so the next character becomes the
accelerator key.
The right fix would be to create the ToggleButton with use_underline=True.
