Nothing new on this one? Our company should migrate from 10.04 to 12.04
this summer, but this bug is the biggest show stopper since our
applications rely heavily on dnd. I really don't want to put gnome

Here are some of the events reported in the syslog. First thing I don't
like is the almost simultaneous calling of resolvconf and restarting of
dnsmasq. I hope that these actions are serialized. Second, I wonder
why the carrier is reported as OFF on eth1 four seconds after DHCP is
complete.

I don't understand. You say it takes 35 seconds to 4 minutes to
connect, and you want to close the report? Taking even 35 seconds to
connect is unacceptable unless you have an unusually slow DHCP server or
something.
