following command:
/usr/bin/i8kfan 1 2
This is incorrect as the usage of this command requires a 'fan' argument
like so:
/usr/bin/i8kfan fan 1 2
Without the 'fan' argument, the fan speed will not be changed.

I hit (probably) the same bug --- made connecting to my PC via VNC practically
impossible.
Ubuntu 12.10, using gnome-shell. After a few minutes of remote VNC operation
(using JumpDesktop from an iPad), gnome-settings-daemon crashes, and after that
all the applications come out "ugly".

OK, I'm going to test it today. I'll give you feedback about the result.
But the point that I don't understand is that I can see wireless networks
except my own. When I use any other third party wireless applications, I
see my home wireless too. I reset my modem and also changed its name

Ubiquity freezes during nfs-based desktop install from recent
The cron job you posted should not be able to cause a system reboot. As
this hasn't been confirmed by any other user, and there is surely a huge
number of other users running that same cron job, I think it is more
likely than not that this is either a hardware fault or some local
corruption or misc
Workaround: I installed the PCmanFM package :
sudo apt-get install pcmanfm
pcmanfm
this is a good alternative as Nautilus and he is very fast.

In Ubuntu 12.04, I don't quite get the crash, but the text-editor is
buggy. You choose a font, it keeps sans and you have to assign the font
again. After copying a text layer (pretty fundamental to any text effect
operation), it moves the topmost layer on editing.
Really frustrating.

newest kernel (3.8 rc4) but I installed just the linux-image and the
linux-image-extra files; I couldn't install the headers file because I
always got the error message "Cannot satisfy dependencies".

Well, actually the disconnect issue appeared at first only when I
suspended my laptop. This prevented me from using STR on my laptop.
