honestly have no idea what package/component creates that file; it's

I can confirm the same bug on precise server. After logrotate
/var/log/syslog is root:root and I syslog does not log anymore. Multiple
restarts fixes the issue.
On the other hand it works just fine on soucy server for me.

We have several OptiPlex 9020 (with i7-4770) from Dell and we don't have any
problems without WOL.
After activating WOL and disabling "Deep Sleep" in BIOS it is not possible to
shutdown the machines with Ubuntu. It's still possible to shutdown with Windows

Sorry, Joseph, I am a standard Ubuntu user working with Ubuntu for work.
I am not a Guru and can't do any experiments with my running system. I
am sorry, I can't do that, at least not right now. By the way, last
night my Laptop was in sleeping mode and it did not crash this morning
with awakening.
I am still seeing this issue with libvirt 1.1.1-0ubuntu8, although it
has only (just) happened once after several months of no problems.
VM (called london) has:

and "virsh memtune london" gives:
hard_limit : 1992192
soft_limit : unlimited
