I am using Ubuntu 12.04. After install there is no audio in section 'play sound
trough' there is nothing shown.
After install pavucontrol only headphone is recognized, no speakers at all. I
expect to view speakers option in sound menu.

So, I had a look at the bug briefly. I can reproduce it easily - some first
hand observations:
- this only happens with the menus are in the window title-bar - everything
works correctly with the global menu
- once the modal window is opened and then closed, HUD works normally
- when using HUD

You seem to have installed the cinnamon package on Ubuntu 13.10.
Unfortunately, that package is not available yet for 14.04. To upgrade
to Ubuntu 14.04 LTS you'll need to either wait for a fix for cinnamon
update-apt-xapi is so powerful that it can also block 14.04 users from
doing their job.
