It looks like the addition of "resolve_device" to initramfs-
tool/scripts/functions and to local fixes the uuid mount that I was
seeing on my trusty machine. I will have to do additional work to get
initramfs-tools resolved, but it looks like the patch is good.

Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that I am 61 years old and
not as sharp as I used to be. By the time I had waded through all the
content and followed each link for further information I found myself
lost at sea (ie I had completely lost my bearings) and had to start all
over again

authoritative for the parent /24 zone and generate glue for the

I had this problem as well, starting with the welcome screens during the
install. I believe it is something wrong in the Xorg video driver. My
video card is a Maxwell based nVidia GTX 750 Ti. Despite the menus being

Why do you think this is not a duplicate of #1361951? When it is hung,
can you check with ps or the task manager to see if you have the mke2fs
process running? If so, run sudo gdb -p and at the
prompt, give it a "bt" command and post its output.

You said that xenial was affected, so I fixed xenial. :) I don't know
what ppa you are referring to, but I did check if vivid desktop uses
/dev/shm (it does), so it would need the fix. Perhaps ask the owner of
the ppa to add the fix to it? Do note, vivid is EOL next week.

As I said before, both should be created. The /dev/mapper one is the
one you should normally use, but /dev/dm-x also should exist.
