[Bug 1578317] Re: Regression: Mouse stuck at start-up

2016-12-26 Thread Ads20000
>From the upstream bug tracker:

 'Richard Hughes 2016-08-15 08:16:19 UTC

This isn't a gnome-software problem; it could be caused by fwupd probing
the system at gnome-software startup, but the root problem is a kernel
issue IMHO.'

Should the package affected by this bug be changed?

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.

[Bug 1652348] Re: initrd dhcp fails / ignores valid response

2016-12-26 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Paul Graydon, the next step is to fully reverse commit bisect from
kernel 4.4 to 4.10-rc1 in order to identify the last bad commit,
followed immediately by the first good one. Once this good commit has
been identified, it may be reviewed for backporting. Could you please do
this following
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBisection#How_do_I_reverse_bisect_the_upstream_kernel.3F
?

Please note, finding adjacent kernel versions, or providing a commit
from a kernel version bisect is not fully commit bisecting.

Also, the kernel release names are irrelevant for the purposes of
bisecting.

It is most helpful that after the fix commit (not kernel version) has
been identified, you then mark this report Status Confirmed.

Thank you for your help.

[Bug 1652697] Re: mplayer spuriously skips ahead

2016-12-26 Thread gregrwm
mplayer http://tres.kfai.org:8000
mplayer -af channels=2 -framedrop -msgcolor -cache 499 http://tres.kfai.org:8000

at times when the problem does not manifest, either command above works
fine. at times when the problem is manifesting, the command which
specifies a larger cache somewhat increases the time before the
percentage reaches zero, but it still happens within a minute or so.

if the problem is missing packets, i would say mplayer lacks the ability
to recover sensibly, and would perhaps do better to act as if it were
re-invoked and re-fill it's buffer, rather than hobbling along scraping
the bottom of the buffer and rendering a couple seconds of sound and a
couple seconds of gap over and over until i kill it.

[Bug 1626567] Re: Gambas3 interpretor (gbr/gbx) SISEGV at early startup.

2016-12-26 Thread Valentin Quequet
Hello All,

To have a useful trace, I had to build (and install) gambas3 and glibc
locally with debug symbols.

Binaries still are 'optimized' a bit, however.

Here follows how I got the crash (SIGSEGV) :

Under Bash :

Debugging with Nemiver :

valentin@valentin-SATELLITE-L875-10G:~$ which gbr3

valentin@valentin-SATELLITE-L875-10G:~$ nemiver gbr3 /usr/bin/gambas3
valentin@valentin-SATELLITE-L875-10G:~$

I got the attached screenshot.

( see also http://www.jinstallelinux.net/pub1/www/Debugging_Gambas3.png
)

In hope this helps.

Sincerely,
Valoo

[Bug 1412943] Re: security.ubuntu.com (2001:67c:1562::XXX) not reachable

2016-12-26 Thread Robie Basak
> and then you want me to send you mails while you are having working
bugtracker where problems never get resolved.

This is an infrastructure operational issue, not a bug in the update-
manager package in Ubuntu. This bug tracker is used to track bugs in
Ubuntu itself, not infrastructure issues. Canonical IS (the operational
infrastructure department at Canonical) do not use Launchpad bugs to
track their issues. They use RT, a ticketing system designed to help
track this kind of problem. And Paul has made it clear how to raise a
ticket in this system in his comment above.

My Linode server can reach 2001:67c:1562::19 just fine, so it isn't
clear if this is an issue at Linode, at Canonical, or somewhere in
between. Our operational guys are willing to help resolve this, but if
you can't even be bothered to raise a ticket with them, it isn't
reasonable for you to expect your problem to be solved.

I should have marked this bug as Invalid, but I have not because I
thought it would be helpful to users to leave it open. Apparently this
is not the case, so I'm marking it Invalid now to make it clear that:

1) Commenting on this bug isn't going to help; contact Canonical IS as
instructed in comment 17 above instead.

2) This is not a bug in the update-manager package in Ubuntu, so there
is nothing to fix there.

You may still comment on this bug if you'd like to communicate with
other people affected by this; but do not expect anyone at Canonical to
read it. For that, contact Canonical IS as explained in comment 17
above.

> I am salty because this is not the first problem I am trying to help
to be resolved, and this one looks like every other - no activity at
all.

Because, as explained, you aren't raising your issue in the right place.

[Bug 1652686] [NEW] Merge 1.12.37-1 from Debian Sid

2016-12-26 Thread Simon Quigley
Public bug reported:

1.12.37 has been released upstream and has been uploaded to Debian. The
Standards-version has also bumped. We should merge from Debian.

The remaining changes are as follows:

  * debian/control:
- Add Breaks/Replaces on older versions of phablet-tools that used
to also ship a /usr/bin/repo file. Can drop this delta after the
  next LTS.

I see no reason why the delta shouldn't be kept.

[Bug 1652697] [NEW] mplayer spuriously skips ahead

2016-12-26 Thread gregrwm
Public bug reported:

mplayer spuriously skips ahead while listening to network stream.

the skips i have observed are small skips, a portion of a word will be
missing, or the music will skip ahead by half a beat. many of the skips
escape the notice of my ears. if i carefully watch the mplayer timer
last figure, the percentage (of the buffer that's filled?), usually it
bounces around only by 3 or 4% at most, but occasionally it drops by 5
or 10% and does not recover, bouncing around the new lower value for an
unpredictable period of time, then drops again. after this happens a
number of times, the percentage reaches 0%, it prints "Cache empty,
consider increasing -cache and/or -cache-min. [performance issue]", the
sound drops for a second or two, and resumes, with the percentage
recovered only a small amount, such that it very quickly hits zero
again, and keeps printing the message repeatedly each accompanied by a 1
or 2 second gap in sound. if i stop mplayer and restart it, the
percentage is higher for awhile, until it eventually drops to zero
again, where as before it prints the message repeatedly each accompanied
by a 1 or 2 second gap in the sound. i do not know the circumstances
that cause this. i can listen for hours without it happening sometimes,
while other times even though i repeatedly exit and restart mplayer it
quickly happens again. so it's tempting to guess it may be related to
network traffic. even if that's true, the bug would then be lack of
ability to recover sensibly on the fly.

ProblemType: Bug
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.04
Package: mplayer 2:1.2.1-1ubuntu1
ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.4.0-47.68-generic 4.4.24

[Bug 1641322] Re: frequently lost connection to nvme

2016-12-26 Thread Thomas M Steenholdt
Okay,

Since updating the BIOS of my Lenovo T460s laptop from version 1.15 to
1.20, I've not seen this issue once.

Since I've not been able to successfully reproduce the error at any
point, I can't say for sure that the problem is gone. It has been a
weeks time, however, which is certainly a first.

I'm happy to close this bug at this time, marking it a hardware/firmware
issue.

/Thomas

They do not appear to suffer from the bug, dhcp was able to complete
happily via the startup scripts in the initrd environment, and the host
booted successfully.

(nautilus:9576): GLib-GIO-CRITICAL **: g_dbus_interface_skeleton_unexport:

killing nautilus and starting from the terminal gives:

[Bug 1652711] [NEW] Please upstream the multiarch patch to Debian

2016-12-26 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Public bug reported:

It's a bit annoying that cmake has different behavior has different
behavior on Ubuntu than it does on Debian with multiarch.

We've been carrying forward a changelog entry for 2 years that says
"xnox says this is not yet ready to go upstream but he will work on it"

https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cmake/3.0.2-1ubuntu1

So maybe if there's a tracking bug for this issue, it will help.

Other Info
==
I reported this in bug 1596391 but to be fair, that bug was sort of about pdal
which has been fixed now.

...I noticed this issue today because I look at Ubuntu's calligra, which
needs to carry a patch to handle the different cmake multiarch behavior.

[Bug 1652242] Re: Kernel security test for CVE-2016-9793 still fail with proposed Yakkety 4.8.0-34 kernel

2016-12-26 Thread Steve Beattie
This was due to the test expecting a negative value to return an error
on the setsockopt() call, rather than just applying the minimum. I've
now corrected the test in the qa-r-t tree in https://git.launchpad.net
/qa-regression-
testing/commit/?id=2ffdf26fe003ac99cf7a457a689ebe5d6afbbafe and
confirmed that the kernel in yakkety-proposed passes the test while the

Re: [Bug 1652287] Re: dpkg-reconfigure hunspell-es doesn't ask you the default language

2016-12-26 Thread José Luis González
This is not possible to me. I need C.UTF-8 or en_US.UTF-8 locale, but
want Spanish dictionaries by default.

If you wonder why we have many scripts that depend on English (or C)
locale but they don't use dictionaries so it's not a problem if I set
them to Spanish (which is what I would wish I could). One option is
setting all locales each time I run one of those internal scripts, but I
don't want to risk forgetting, for the time being.

[Bug 1310933] Re: Indicator-applet-appmenu should only reveal itself on mouse over in Gnome-Flashback (Zesty)

2016-12-26 Thread Khurshid Alam
Ok. May be the global menu behavior is ok. But I do not really agree
with problem (2).

It doesn't show any window title which makes things difficult to
identify menu for a particular window when many windows are open on a
single work-space. I have to bring a window to focus to make sure I am
accessing menu for that particular window.

It becomes more pronounce in zesty as Ubuntu stopped patching gnome-apps
for horizontal menu. And we are left with single vertical menu.

Of course I can determine who's menu it is by peeking at the menu
itself, but it takes little extra time I don't want waste even that bit
in a rigid work environment.

  Change Log:

- * New upstream release (LP: #1652594)
- * Updated Panel configuration
- - AppIndicator Applet is now a default applet (#35)
- * Hide renamed zesty ImageMagick Icon
- * Replace gnome-terminal with Terminix (#33)
- - update plank dockitems to switch from gnome-terminal to Terminix
- - update budgie-desktop-environment gsettings override

- * Packaging Changes:

- - change the section from meta to misc since this package is the
- customisation binaries for the standard and minimal desktop
- installs
- - Rework packaging to accommodate a minimal budgie-desktop

- panel.ini installed only for the standard installer; file moved

- - up the debhelper version with standard Debian practice
- - Add postinst and postrm scripts to deal with Terminix
- configuration
