After upgrading from 4.4.0-77 to 4.4.0-78 I started getting kernel
panics.
The crashes do not happen immediately, but have happened generally after
a couple of minutes, sometimes more.
After enabling linux-crashdump stuff, I managed to extract this dmesg.

The VPN tab disappeared while editing VPN connections (e.g. vpnc). Also
existing connections can't conncect any more. They ask while connecting
for username and password and then fail.

I went over to use mksquashfs to get an image of one machine which is up
to date and mount it on another system and use rsync to update the other
machine to the exact same state. I use rsync --exclude /etc/hostname
--exclude /etc
In order to see what went wrong, we need you to attach /var/log/syslog.

I had almost the exact issue described in this bug (the only exception

there is definitely a bug in the fact that grub-probe is still just
looking for /dev/[device-id] instead of /dev/disk/by-id/[device-id]
which breaks everything every time you have a kernel update unless you
make those symlinks. this was supposedly fixed but you and I are both
having the issue stil

Ok, I'm using an external screen but laptop screen is off when screen is
connected.
I removed all nvidia drivers and tools and thus switched to nouveau, the
problem is gone.
So this is most certainly related to nvidia drivers.

It looks like this was ZFS related. It sounds like there is no way to
reproduce this bug, so it's probably best to keep a close eye on the
instance.
It might be good to see if livepatch recently applied anything.
Especially related to ZFS.

Other amd64 failures.
tests/main/listing - doesn't find expected pattern for core snap in
'snap list'. When I run the same thing manually it matches, so not sure
what the problem is.
