always have a valid UTF-8 locale assigned to LANG.

Battery drain is markedly more severe.
Looking at powertop, the main difference is that the Apple USB Bluetooth driver

Thanks for all that.
Well, the 1st time I implemented the newly downloaded .iso file that
you alerted me to, I still had problems. So, I implemented it again
WITHOUT making any chances to the default VMWare defaults and it worked -
enabling me to get to 16.04!
...and then the notif

When my laptop is plugged in, it means I'm at home or at work, and don't
want to dim the screen.
When I'm on battery, I want to dim the screen to save power, or I'm
somewhere where it might be prudent to lock the screen shortly.
Please implement this distinction in Settings
When I have headphones in the sound is ok. When its playing via the
laptop speakers its skipping crackling and pretty unusable.
The speakers ok I have tested them.
I have turned off automute with alsamixer still no luck.

I installed vim-editorconfig like so:
sudo apt install vim-editorconfig
Then I ran vim and typed ":scriptnames" -- editorconfig was not among
them.
When I look in /usr/share, most vim plugins appear to be in the vim/
directory, but vim-editorconfig has its own directory, an
