[Bug 408865] Re: Cannot copy from windows share

2009-08-30 Thread feranick
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which
is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper
developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. I have classified this
bug as a bug in samba.

It's not a trivial change. Samba needs to be patched, and then nautilus-share.
Hence, not a papercut.

Hi guy's,
The build ubuntu3~pre10 seems to be working allright, since making a fix for
that segfault bug its all working again. I just loaded it up with a whole bunch

[Bug 420729] Re: squid stable permissions problems with log files

2009-08-30 Thread Evgeniy
issue was resolved with chmod 777 for /var/log folder and after that
debug mode was started and service started too!

After chmod i implement chown to folder with root:root and no further
problems were found, so SQUID is now working and configured
successfully. Proxy server tested with 2 PCs(one with Wi-fi adapter)
acording to acl all resolved.

Thank you for your unswer! Micah

[Bug 421350] [NEW] Keyboard navigation with PgUp/PgDn doesn't move selection

2009-08-30 Thread Koterpillar
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

When navigating folders containing many files, Page Up and Page Down
keys behavior is inconsistent with arrow keys. Arrows move the selection
to the next file, and if needed, scroll the viewport so it is visible.
However, PgUp/PgDn simply scroll the viewport, not switching the
selection. Therefore, if I press down arrow after several PgDn presses,
meaning to advance the viewport one line further, it jumps back to where
the original selected file was. This is inconsistent with, for example,
text editors and browsers.

[Bug 420513] Re: [needs packaging] lubuntu desktop meta

2009-08-30 Thread Martin-Éric Racine
Lintian also reports the following:

Now running lintian...
W: lubuntu-meta source: package-uses-deprecated-debhelper-compat-version 4
W: lubuntu-meta source: diff-contains-bzr-control-dir .bzr
W: lubuntu-desktop: old-fsf-address-in-copyright-file
W: lubuntu-desktop: unknown-section metapackages
E: lubuntu-desktop: depends-on-metapackage depends: xorg

Fixing these requires:
1)
   a) echo 5 debian/compat
   b) bump the debhelper version to 5 in debian/control
2) in debian/rules: also delete .bzr in the clean rule and right after the make
invocation.
3) Remove the address section completely; instead add a reference to the
inclusion of the GPL text in the distro:

4) Is that an Ubuntu-specific section?
5) Requires adding a Lintian override.

I just did a fresh install of Jaunty 64Bit and I needed to add this line
to the alsa-base.conf. Isn't there a way to add this line by default?
Otherwise everybody with this problem is required to find this bug
report and to do the change manually.

[Bug 253422] Re: Realtek ALC883 speakers don't mute when headphones plugged in

2009-08-30 Thread spear1bearer
Still a problem for me, on Acer Aspire 5050 with Ubuntu Jaunty 9.04,
after trying a bunch of values for model= . '

Basically, with the best profile I found I was able to independently
control and mute speaker and headphone volume, but none detected the
headphones (manual muting was required). What's particularly annoying is
that acer-aspire profile actually DIDN'T work on my Acer Aspire...

Some test results:

targa-dig - Speakers don't mute when headphones are plugged in.
tagra-2ch-dig - can't get speakers to work. Headphones work.
acer-aspire - The Headphone switch DOES work. Speakers DON'T work.
acer, 6stack-dig - Speakers on Surround channel, headphones on Front.
Either can be independently muted, but only manually (no automatic speaker
muting). Headphone switch doesn't work.
3stack - can't get speakers to work. Headphones switch doesn't work. Headphones
do work.
3stack-dig - speakers work, but don't mute with headphones plugged in.
Headphones work.

[Bug 421351] [NEW] Regression - pulseaudio not enumerating sound cards properly

2009-08-30 Thread Neil Wilson
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pulseaudio

cards properly.

The RS870 HDMI output is not picked up at all, and the Digital output on
the ALC888 card is missing. All three outputs show on 'aplay -L'
although the output from 'aplay -l' has changed.

[Bug 420312] Re: [regression] Xorg/Compiz crashes when doing Alt+Tab in Karmic

2009-08-30 Thread Dirk
Same problem here. Using a fresh and updated Karmic install on an HP
laptop with Mobile Intel GMA 4500MHD video card.

However, it doesn't happen always. In my last test, I had two terminals
open and was able to switch. Then I opened Firefox, and couldn't switch
anymore.

When the problem does happen, nothing crashes. It's compiz that goes to
100% CPU and thus makes xorg completely unresponsive. But it's still
possible to switch to a virtual console and kill compiz. Then I can go
back to X and restart Compiz. Since there are no crashes, I don't have
any apport output.

GNOME 2.27.91, and the inhibit applet still does not work - without the
inhibit applet I close the lid and the computer suspends, I install the
inhibit applet, turn it on, close the lid and the computer suspends
again.

I can't find anything relevant in the logs for this.

[Bug 334413] Re: regression - Ericsson F3507g (e.g. 0bdb:1900) WWAN Card not detected after 2.6.27-10 kernel

Like Frédéric, I cannot see the Ericsson modem with lsusb. It is not
there at boot up, nor after suspend/resume. I'm running kernel
2.6.31.8-generic on a Thinkpad X200s.

If there's anything we can do to fix this PLEASE let me know! This is
quite a problem for me...

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and trying to help make Ubuntu
better. However, it seems that you are not using a software package provided
by the official Ubuntu repositories. Because of this the Ubuntu project can

[Bug 421223] Re: firefox-seamonkey almost freezes,not responding.

2009-08-30 Thread Micah Gersten
Thank you for reporting this to Ubuntu. Sometimes Firefox profiles can
become corrupt and/or extensions can conflict. Could you please try
this with a new profile and see if the problem still exists? You do not
need to delete your old profile to test. If this helps, you might want
to try to disable all your extensions and re-enable them one by one
until you find the problematic one.

You can start the profile manager with the following command:
firefox -ProfileManager

[Bug 418509] Re: [Karmic] Hangs during shutdown with kernel 2.6.31-7

2009-08-30 Thread Nicholas Roberts
I thought everything had been resolved for me having updated to
2.6.31-8. However... if I delete a couple of files using Nautilus and
then go for a system shutdown I get the warning message that Nautilus is
still deleting files (even though it actually finished). Same goes for
copying files... a shutdown will report Nautilus is still busy copying.
Forcing a shutdown leads to the same 'superblock inconsistency' issue on
reboot and the need for an fsck.

The superblock issue is that it has found a timestamp one hour (exactly)
in the future... strange one this. Anyway, none of this happened prior
to this bug so I am concluding that there is...

(a) either an outstanding issue directly related to this bug or

(b) that the original bug caused an inconsistency in my filesystem
and/or configuration causing the Nautilus errors and superblock
inconsistencies.

[Bug 406095] Re: [Jaunty] Sound only through second headphone jack. HDA-Intel on HP HDX9000

2009-08-30 Thread Kermiac
Hi Andres,

I have tested the latest upsteam kernel available as you requested.
Unfortunately the latest kernel here
(http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.31-rc8/) would make the
unit hang at bootup so I used the latest daily build (from here
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/daily/current/ ).

There appears to be no change when using this updated kernel. Sound is
still output from the 2 headphone jacks only.

Thanks

[Bug 421332] Re: Gwibber does not like my GConf values and I can't fix it

2009-08-30 Thread Miloš Mandarić
About that unpleasant part. Gwibber 2.0 is in alpha stage of stability
and yes it has a lot of bugs. This version is released for bug testers
and developers and is not meant to be used on stable production
machines, therefore don't complain about bugs and instability and use
the current stable release for Jaunty.

[Bug 389209] Re: Fast User Switch Applet should not have session actions, including Shut Down, Log Out and Restart

2009-08-30 Thread Loïc Martin
The availability of Suspend/Hibernate/Shutdown on fusa is a big plus for
me and other users of the main desktop computer, it really saves time
and makes those actions easily accessible. Especially since you don't
have to wait for a window to pop-up, which is great on low-end computers
and netbooks.

[Bug 421329] Re: cat on keyboard crashes screensaver

2009-08-30 Thread arky
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which
is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper
developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. I have classified this
bug as a bug in kscreensaver .

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport, either via the
appropriate application's Help - Report a Problem menu or using
'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more
about this functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

[Bug 421074] Re: pop-ups from ING Home'Bank app not brought forward in KDE

2009-08-30 Thread feranick
Thank you for taking the time to submit this report. Unfortunately it
sounds as the problem is related to an application that is not
officially supported neither by Canonical nor by the community. You
should then redirect this report to the developers of that specific
application.

I am going to set the status for this application as invalid. However,
feel free (in fact, please do!) to reopen it if you found that the same
application was not showing such bug on previous versions of Ubuntu, or
in other LInux distributions.

Please keep submitting any bug you may find. Thank you again in helping
to make Ubuntu better.
