I witnessed this bug only on one host (and it's the only host I'm using for kvm right now). Host configuration is as follows: Test site: HP DL 380 G5 (8-core, 16 GB RAM). qemu-kvm 0.11.0-0ubuntu6.3 Linux net-v2 2.6.31-20-server #57-Ubuntu SMP Mon Feb 8 09:59:59 UTC 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux The trouble was faced with virtual machines running 32-bit Windows Server Enterprise 2003 R2. Tests for other Windows versions were not done. The problem was appearing no matter if current updates were applied to guest OS. Other guest OS (64-bit Fedora12 and FreeDSD 8) were running and rebooting well in the same two-processor configuration. The bug reproduced itself on several virtual machines. I did some more investigation into this issue, and it looks like this bug will affect all Hardy - Lucid upgrades. To test this I went through the following steps: On a machine running Hardy (and which had never had slapd installed before): 1a) installed the slapd package, allowed the postinst script to configure the installation in the normal manner, and then ran /etc/init.d/slapd stop to cleanly shut down the daemon process. 1b) ran slaptest -f /etc/ldap/slapd.conf and confirmed that the BDB v4.2 database files did not cause any errors on that machine. Back on the server recently upgraded to Lucid, I made a simple test directory: 2a) Created a test directory /root/ldap_hardy_test, and under that an empty subdirectory libldap. 2b) copied /etc/ldap/slapd.conf.old to ldap_hardy_test/slapd.conf, and edited the directory line to point to the /root/ldap_hardy_test/libldap directory. 2c) copied all files in /var/lib/ldap/ into /root/ldap_hardy_test/libldap/ 2d) ran slaptest -f slapd.conf -d 1 to confirm that the slaptest run completed without errors, and that it opened the files in ldap_hardy_test/libldap instead of /var/lib/ldap . Then I tested the BDB files from the Hardy install: 3a) deleted all files in /root/ldap_hardy_test/libldap, and then copied all the files from the Hardy machine's /var/lib/ldap/ directory into the Lucid machine's libldap directory. 3b) ran slaptest -f slapd.conf again... and got the Program version 4.7 doesn't match environment version error message. In HOST_A's config the VNET_INTERFACE is set to br0, however when I issue euca-create-volume -s 1 -z ZONE_A the volume is created and presented on eth0 instead of br0: r...@host_a:~# ps -ef | fgrep vblade root 6983 6161 0 12:30 ?00:00:00 /usr/sbin/vblade 0 2 eth0 /dev/vg-SaiRdw../lv-k3pJyQ.. So far I have tried the following steps: - de-registered the SC - stopped and disabled all eucalyptus services - apt-get purged the eucalyptus-sc package - rebooted - installed the eucalyptus-sc package - verified VNET_INTERFACE value - enabled all eucalyptus services - started eucalyptus with CLEAN=1 The behaviour still persists, so I guess there is either something I have missed or there is a bug in one of the eucalyptus packages. Hey John! I haven't made any workaround yet, but I was considering something that sounds more complicated than I like. You could make an init script that does the first boot work, removes itself from the default run level, and then removes itself. Sorry, I do not have any of that any more, because I was able to install it with some tweaking. The problem was that the mysql service was not stoppable, even after rebooting. Can anyone confirm that this bug has actually been fixed in any version of network-manager-vpnc or in a related package? All I can see is that Ronan F marked this bug as fixed, but I fail to see any mention of the actual fix or version. Version 0.7.997 was released on 2009-12-08, but it doesn't seem to contain any obvious bugfixes related to this issue. This bug hit me two times on karmic with OpenVPN during the last week and both times I went through the edit connections dialogue to select the same user certificate that has already been selected before. No other parameters were changed. After hitting Apply I was able to establish VPN connections again. mgl, the only workaround I found was, in Ubuntu Lucid, to install wine 1.2 + windows's firefox 3.5 + windows's flash 10. As long as you make sure that graphics acceleration is turned off in that version of Flash for Windows, videos on both Global and CBC work fine for me. And the quality is surprisingly good for an wine process, even on this underpowered 5-year-old laptop. Fixed a regression that caused the driver to fail to properly adjust the GPU fan speed on some GPUs. Fixed a bug that prevented performance level transitions on recent GPUs with SDDR3 and GDDR5 memory.
