[Bug 1319352] Re: indicator-application does not work in MATE 1.8

2015-01-10 Thread Martin Wimpress
Indicator support is enabled by default in Ubuntu MATE 14.04 and is a
post-install option for Ubuntu MATE 14.10 and 15.04. I will continue to
provide in for 14.10 and 15.04 via my PPAs and documentation explaining
how to enable indicators. But, for the time being, I am not going to
add indicator support by default. I'll revisit indicator integration at
a later date.

[Bug 1376502] Re: Header not correctly displayed under certain conditions.

2015-01-10 Thread Tommy Brunn
I have this exact same bug happen in my app: https://github.com/Nevon
/Ubuntu-Dota-2-Match-Ticker

Steps to reproduce:
1. Scroll down in the match ListView until the header disappears
2. Tap on a match in the list
3. Now the header on the new page is missing

If you open a different app and then go back to the first app, the
header is drawn again.

I've attached a screenshot of what it looks like when the header is
missing. This is what it looks like after switching to another app and
back again: http://i.imgur.com/9c2bZ7d.png

[Bug 1409193] Re: pygtkcompat crashes when using gtk2

2015-01-10 Thread Martin Pitt
Oh, and pygtkcompat's purpose is to provide a pygtk like compat wrapper
for PyGI + GTK 3. :-) If you have to use GTK 2 still, use the
corresponding real pygtk. (But as I said, none of that is supported any
more).

[Bug 1409193] Re: pygtkcompat crashes when using gtk2

2015-01-10 Thread Martin Pitt
This is a case of just don't do that, I'm afraid. GTK 2 is very old
and hasn't been maintained for like 5 years. At the time when gobject
introspection came up we already had GTK 3, so any introspection stuff
which happens to work with GTK 2 is pure luck.

[Bug 1409081] Re: /etc/init.d/pcscd works only at first start.

2015-01-10 Thread Ludovic Rousseau
This file is a conffile and is not managed like the other files of a
package.

A local modification is not overwritten unless explicitly accepted by
the admin. I guess you edited the file and refused to upgrade it during
the install of a newer version of pcscd.

I will close the bug.

The fix doesn't work in the case when no splash is shown so the patch is
incomplete. I opened bug 454299.

ookawa kouji, as you have the latest BIOS already, you would have to
contact HP directly to request a BIOS fix. Could you please advise on
what their response is?

[Bug 1408821] Re: Unstable Wi-Fi

2015-01-10 Thread Diogo Schneider
Curiously though, it seems my WiFi connection has been stable since
yesterday, when I installed the new kernel. So I have added the tags you
asked and marked the bug as Fix-Commited.

What are the next steps for me now, do I keep running this kernel until
it's replaced by automatic updates or should I remove it at some point?

Thanks,
Diogo

[Bug 1405437] Re: [Dell Precision M4800] iwlwifi regularly loses connection on Intel 7260

2015-01-10 Thread arty
I have tried linux-firmware 1.138.1 and the bug still happens.

Regarding some other questions:

4d) I confirm: no QoS. It's a very basic router, the most advanced feature is
port forwarding.
4f) Some kind of firewall is enabled and it's not possible to turn it off.
4g) I have not tried all the channels, I tried 1, 3, 4, 6, 8, 11. Hard to test
all, usually most are taken by nearby networks.
5) 3 Android 4.x devices (Galaxy S3, S4, Tab 2) and Panasonic SmartTV Viera
TX-42ASW604W
16) According to Seth linux-firmware 1.138.1 has the latest firmware, I use it
and still see the bug

Things still to test:

4b) Disable encryption
9) Previous releases
13) NDIS-wrapper

2015-01-10 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
arty, the article intends click-for-click instructions. However, in the
case of 10) upstream removed their click-for-click instructions from
their wiki. Hence, I'll do a quick wording adjustment on the article for
now, and circle back on click-for-click instructions.

Regarding prior release testing, I'm presently satisfied with the Saucy
test.

[Bug 1409279] Re: Reboot After Shutdown ASRock H87 PRO 4

2015-01-10 Thread Peter Maciejko
** Description changed:

  Hello, my rig is:
  Motherboard ASRock H87 PRO4
  CPU Intel Core i5 4570
  ASUS Geforce GTX 750 Ti
  HD WD 500 GB Green
Corsair Vengeance RAM 8 GB 1600 Mhz

I have very annoing shutdown issue. When I shutdown my machine (full
update Ubuntu 14.04.1), after 2-3 seconds computer goes to reboot. It
happens all time, I have tried:

  #sudo shutdown -h now
  #sudo shutdown -H now
  #sudo shutdown -P now
  #sudo apt-get install linux-headers-3.16.0-28-generic linux-headers-3.16.0-28
linux-image-3.16.0-28-generic linux-image-extra-3.16.0-28
  #tried Fedora 21 with kernel v3.17

Nothing works, I have to shutdown my computer by holding power button. I
have read about this regres in kernel v3.12 on kernel bug tracking list:
  https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=66171 and I wonder - does
Ubuntu developers applied that patch to Ubuntu Linux kernel?
+
+ I am Python developer and sadly I do not have time for this kind of
+ issues. Since work on my Ubuntu machine is impossible I had to move to
+ Windows. Please help me solve this problem fastest as you can.

Re: [Bug 1405256] Re: Package does not contain service file

2015-01-10 Thread Serge Hallyn
So I think long term (i.e. 16.04 and later) this will become a job for
systemd. What I'm not sure about is whether in the meantime we want
to implement another generic way of achieving this, or simply show
how to do it manually. I personally think the simplest thing to do
would be to create an upstart job that creates the cgroups you want.
For instances if you want a Web cgroup in the memory, cpuset, and
freezer hierarchies, owned by uid 100, with certain constraints, and you
have cgmanager and cgmanager-utils installed, you could create
/etc/init/setup-cgroups.conf containing (untested):

description set up initial cgroups
task
start on started cgmanager

script
cgm movepidabs all / $$
cgm create freezer Web
cgm create memory Web
cgm create cpuset Web
cgm setvalue cpuset Web cpuset.cpus 0-1
cgm setvalue cpuset Web cpuset.mems 0
cgm chown freezer Web 1000 1000
cgm chown memory Web 1000 1000
cgm chown cpuset Web 1000 1000
end script

[Bug 1234376] Re: HOSTALIAS doesn't update after changing config files

2015-01-10 Thread Evan Broder
Thanks for the approvals, Sebastian and Brian.

I've repeated the steps I outlined in the description and confirmed that
the bug does not occur with the packages in -proposed. I've also
installed the packages in our production nagios server and confirmed
that things seem to more or less work as expected.

[Bug 1376587] Re: wine and fglrx packages are mutually exclusive

2015-01-10 Thread Patryk
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1129409 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1129409

I have followed steps provided by perterje22 and I have working drivers
installed

dpkg -l | grep -i fglrx
ii fglrx 2:14.501-0ubuntu1
amd64Video driver for the AMD graphics
accelerators
ii fglrx-amdcccle2:14.501-0ubuntu1
 amd64Catalyst Control Center for the
AMD graphics accelerators
ii fglrx-core2:14.501-0ubuntu1.1
amd64Minimal video driver for the AMD
graphics accelerators
ii fglrx-dev 2:14.501-0ubuntu1
amd64Video driver for the AMD graphics
accelerators (devel files)

But I cannot launch AMD control center. Any clues? I mean only
administrative app is visible in unity and gksu password windows pops up
but nothing happens after that.

[Bug 1315212]

2015-01-10 Thread Rkfg
This command doesn't work, it says aplay: set_params:1239: Channels
count non available. The -D default:CARD=CA0106 variant works and it
does not overrun. I only had overruns on recording (at least, explicit).
That said, I've made a huge improvement in my system, I compiled a pf-
kernel and set CONFIG_PREEMPT=y, CONFIG_HZ_1000=y and CONFIG_HZ=1000.
The default Debian kernel is on 250 Hz and is not preemptible. Now that
my kernel supports preemption I (crossing fingers) don't have ALSA over-
and underruns anymore. They were quite sudden and audible as
clicks/gaps. I saw this in the log:

Jan 4 20:25:15 homecomp pulseaudio[26848]: [alsa-sink-ca0106] alsa-sink.c:
Scheduling delay of 11.42 ms 11.31 ms, you might want to investigate this to
improve latency...
Jan 4 20:25:15 homecomp pulseaudio[26848]: [alsa-sink-ca0106] alsa-sink.c:
Underrun!
Jan 4 20:25:15 homecomp pulseaudio[26848]: [alsa-sink-ca0106] alsa-sink.c:
Increasing minimal latency to 1.00 ms
Jan 4 20:25:15 homecomp pulseaudio[26848]: [alsa-sink-ca0106] alsa-sink.c:
Latency set to 21.33ms
Jan 4 20:25:15 homecomp pulseaudio[26848]: [alsa-sink-ca0106] alsa-sink.c:
hwbuf_unused=57352
Jan 4 20:25:15 homecomp pulseaudio[26848]: [alsa-sink-ca0106] alsa-sink.c:
setting avail_min=7651
Jan 4 20:25:15 homecomp pulseaudio[26848]: [alsa-sink-ca0106] alsa-sink.c:
Latency set to 21.33ms
Jan 4 20:25:15 homecomp pulseaudio[26848]: [alsa-sink-ca0106] alsa-sink.c:
hwbuf_unused=57352
Jan 4 20:25:15 homecomp pulseaudio[26848]: [alsa-sink-ca0106] alsa-sink.c:
setting avail_min=7651

With the preempt kernel this doesn't happen at all (I grepped the log)
and sound is just as good as with pure ALSA.

However, arecord still drops overrun for CA0106. It doesn't do it for
PCH (ALC889) though.

if you cannot find stereo 48000Hz wav file

aplay -D plughw:CARD=CA0106 -v --buffer-size=1024 any.wav

try to find minimum buffer size 1024,512, 256,128,64,... without
underrun

1024 frames = 21.33 ms x 48000Hz
4096 = 85.33 ms x 48000Hz

if request tlength 85.33ms is buffer time and 21.33ms is period time

not sure why pulseaudio received latency is 26ms

[Bug 1315212]

2015-01-10 Thread Rkfg
Interesting. I've converted that file to 44100 Hz and now it reveals a
strange behavior. When I play it with buffer size of 64 it sounds like
the pitch is lower than it should be (even if it doesn't overrun though
it does from time to time). When the size is 128 it sounds fine.

# aplay -D plughw:CARD=CA0106 -v --buffer-size=64 /tmp/kde44100.wav

This pitch (or maybe speed?) weirdness occurs only on playing stereo
files with rate of 44100. I've tried playing music and it indeed sounds
a bit transposed. Bufsize of 128 frames also seems to produce underruns
after some time, my testing clip was too small to reveal it. So it
required bufsize 512 to be played completely without underruns:

# aplay -D plughw:CARD=CA0106 -v --buffer-size=512 /tmp/ksp44100.wav
Playing WAVE '/tmp/ksp44100.wav' : Signed 16 bit Little Endian, Rate 44100 Hz,
