Nevermind the severity inflation. The build logs where I saw the error
look to be a case of "the package was partially removed, and python2.6
was no longer installed, but a less-than-clever debian/rules file
conditionally calls dh_pysupport if the binary exists", hence the
spectacular explosion.
This is a bug in the third-party lightscribe package, which shouldn't be
including libstdc++ at all, but rather should have a dependency on the
version shipped with Ubuntu. There's nothing we can do to fix someone
else's package. :/

x11-common is hardly "depending on X", it contains no xserver, no
drivers, it's just some common files. It's installed size is 580k.
If the complaint is just that the package has "x11" in the name, I could

It just plain can't be done, as they both need their own custom libGL
installed. There's nothing we can really do about this, unless you want
to complain to both nvidia and ATI that they should be writing their
drivers to use the Mesa GL library instead of their own solutions.

This is precisely why we have metapackages to make sure your kernel and
restricted modules stay in sync. Please install "linux-generic" (or
linux-386, or whatever flavour you're using), and this won't happen
again.

Looking at the logs, this looks like a failed/broken upgrade from dapper
to edgy. Could you try a full dist-upgrade and see if the machine
suddenly starts liking you again?

I'm probably going to end up rolling apache1.3 back to db4.3 for edgy,
which means php4 can't be synced unmodified, so I'll have to upload a
slightly mangled version to cope. I do agree with the request for the
UVF exception, though, so if dholbach approves it, I'll do the upload.
