[Bug 1017678] Re: Duplicate entries in grub2 menu for second ubuntu installed on another partition
Confirming the behaviour stated by axeoth on 2012-09-26. For some reasons, existing grub.cfg files on other partitions seem to completely fool the update-grub scripts on other partitions (more precise, the linux-boot-order script). The problem still exists with Xenial Mate uname -a: Linux x12 4.4.0-47-generic #68-Ubuntu SMP Wed Oct 26 19:39:52 UTC 2016 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux Even confirmed, that os-prober gets fooled by a grub.cfg file on a non- system partition that contains a partial backup of a system partition (here: complete directory /boot)! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1017678 Title: Duplicate entries in grub2 menu for second ubuntu installed on another partition To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/os-prober/+bug/1017678/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1163086] Re: os-prober created a 11.6 MB grub.cfg file impossible to boot
This Bug still exists with Version: grub-pc: 2.02~beta2-36ubuntu3.2 os-prober 1.70ubuntu3 Furthermore, it also exists for a non-RAID system with 4 linux (ubuntu+mint) system partitions. Seems the problem aren't the results of os-prober itself: /dev/sda1:Microsoft Windows XP Professional:Windows:chain /dev/sda6:Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS (16.04):Ubuntu:linux /dev/sda9:Ubuntu 14.04.5 LTS (14.04):Ubuntu1:linux /dev/sdb6:Ubuntu 10.04.4 LTS (10.04):Ubuntu2:linux but the grub-mkconfig process which produces weird results in Section: ### BEGIN /etc/grub.d/30_os-prober ### . . ### END /etc/grub.d/30_os-prober ### (lines 398 to 7421) Example attachment grub.cfg: ** Attachment added: "Example grub.cfg created on non-raid system 12/26/2016" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/os-prober/+bug/1163086/+attachment/4796487/+files/grub.cfg -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1163086 Title: os-prober created a 11.6 MB grub.cfg file impossible to boot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/os-prober/+bug/1163086/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1854346] [NEW] No choice can be made to format non-listed file type
Public bug reported: By GUI, no choice can be made to format a partition to a non-listed file system type since version 3.28 (only verified versions in LTS Ubuntu and derivatives). Here talking about gnome-disk-utility 3.28 in PeppermintOS 10 (based on Lubuntu LTS). For exanmple, in former versions (3.18) there was a menu driven possibilty to insert a non-listed file type into a blank input field by typing the file system's name; for ex.: "reiserfs" or "reiser4" Now, how to input file system types not listed in the menus of 3.28 ? Workaround ? ** Affects: gnome-disk-utility (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: choice file type -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1854346 Title: No choice can be made to format non-listed file type To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-disk-utility/+bug/1854346/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
