first the problem is likely caused by the partial dist upgrade weather
fixed or not it most likely corrupted the profile. Removing the profile
should work. I'm closing this bug due to not a fault in Lightning or
sunbird but more of a system issue.
Fix the dist-upgrade than remove --purge sunbirdli
OK there was another bug about this but i cant seem to find at this
moment. Can you someone look for it in LP i can look upstream later this
week when i do my upstream bug fun.

Most likely the cause was either you had dpkg/apt already running or synaptic
