The problem (and many other problems) all stem from the requirement to
separate BOINC directories.
Simply adding /var/lib/boinc-client for boinc-manager is enough as I see
it, it just need to be set for boinc:boinc. Everything else is unlikely
to occur and will probably go away in time, as things
I've never done anything with .debs so it could take me a while to look
into it, but I will do. If someone beats me to it though: go ahead! :-)

When working with a control socket, this works fine if -g is included
with the initial connect attempt, for example:
