I have updated to Gutsy and now I can issue a iwlist eth1 scan - I get
the following
iwlist eth1 scan
eth1 Scan completed :
Cell 01 - Address: 00:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx
ESSID:
Protocol:IEEE 802.11bg
Mode:Master
Kernel information
uname -a
Linux hostname 2.6.22-5-powerpc64-smp #1 SMP Sat May 19 00:58:32 GMT
2007 ppc64 GNU/Linux
I still can't connect to wireless. NM does not list the network, but if
I enter the ESSID and fill in everything it just falls back to wired
connection.
My messages file
I am now running
uname -a
Linux hostname 2.6.22-6-powerpc64-smp #1 SMP Fri Jun 1 01:52:57 GMT
2007 ppc64 GNU/Linux
When I use /etc/networking.interfaces to try to configure the network I
get
ifup -v eth1
Configuring interface eth1=eth1 (inet)
run-parts --verbose /etc/network/if-pre-up.d
Problem is solved!!
I understand that this is a feature that is added to the radeon driver
by debian/ubuntu team(s). The code does not cater for ppc users and the
driver tries to find/load an x86 bios even on a ppc machine.
The solution you may ask? Add the following to the ATI driver section
Similar experience - when accessing the passwords tab.
(I hope that apport attaches all the files ;-)

Sorry to say - I still have the same problem.
I just changed fbdev with ati in the xorg.conf file and restarted X -

cycle.
I am glad to see that your problem has been resolved.
I am performing a update/upgrade as I write
I can confirm that I have a similar problem:
eth1 Scan completed :
Cell 01 - Address: B5:C0:xx:xx:xx:xx

Segmentation fault (core dumped)
I get this error each time my G5 starts. I also find it
I can confirm a similar problem with ATI Radeon 9600.
If the graphic card driver is set to ati i get a blank screen -
nothing works (that I know of) to regain control of the machine except
the power button.
When I change the driver to fbdev it works.
I attach a tar file with
