This is getting strange. I tried now on my work network, and linkedin
works perfectly!
Both networks are on a dsl line, with different routers. Could it be a
router issue? And why then does it affect only firefox?

Hi Jeremy,
I beleive that I have the same problem since karmic. And now with lucid
it still remains. It is not a 2 minute delay, but something like 10
seconds at the "starting up..." screen. Could you point me to the other
reports of this behavior?

AFAIK those are called by mount/umount (no?). Are you sure there is no need for
those files to exist? They claim to properly update mtab and umount.aufs calls
auplink when umounting.
