I think this is happening to me also. I tried sudo dpkg-reconfigure
xserver-xorg, but with no video questions i think that is a dead end.
I tried sudo displayconfig-gtk, but it is ignoring my monitor. Here's what I

I downloaded the 64 bit version of ubuntu 9.04 and tried loading live CD
and full install on a machine with an AMD Athlon 64. Both brought me to

It's back.
I hadn't seen the problem in weeks since I moved from the ATI fglrx
video driver to the open-source driver and turned the translucency off
for the gnome-panel, so I thought one of those changes had cured it.
Nope.
The panel disappeared again yesterday. I was able to get it back by

In Kubuntu 8.10 its not possible to configure mouse gestures.
The usual preconfigured gestures, are empty and its not possible to set
gestures yourself.

I am having the exact same problem in 8.10 (kubuntu fresh install) with
my six disk raid 5 array. I'm using software raid, so I'm not sure if
that is exactly the same. What motherboard are you using? I'm using an
asus p5q and all drives are plugged into the onboard sata controller,
not the onboard
