I'm trying to get something useful. It's kind of hard to track down
because I can't reproduce the crash interactively. So far I got some
automated backtraces, but all without symbols for the relevant parts.
Fwiw, the one workaround I found was that I can stop gnome-session from
respawning nautilus
This just happened to me on 9.04 Jaunty Alpha4 too.
The Live CD automounted an USB Stick that happend to be plugged in at the time
of installation.
The Prepare Partition step then showed up empty. Unmounting the sticks
partitions solved it.
IMO Ubiquitiy should at least show an error message when
Being ready to throw gdb, valgrind and ltrace at the crash again, I found that
it doesn't happen anymore :). Todays updates must have fixed it. Nautilus is
still spawning though, faster even than before, but I guess this is now

I can see this happening on current Jaunty 9.04 too, but it started only some
days ago. The panel just locks up when clicking the clock. 'evolution
--force-shutdown' doesn't help here either and I'm not using google accounts.
What helps is starting evolution to the calendar page, ie evolution

Thank you _tom_, the dump looks good. I can try to reproduce this now.

I have run apport-retrace locally now with the crash file of this

still looked as useless as the one I reported first. The system was
always freshly updated from the main repos too, so it seems unlikely
that any new report from ap
Does it still work when you run 'sudo dhclient eth0' twice? This is what
failed for the bug submitter.
Thanks for the second dump, it's interesting to see that both show
pretty much identical dhcp responses.

Ok, I can reproduce it reliably now. Above is the configuration for
dhcp3-server to get the same dhcp responses as in the dumps.
I can see what the bug submitter described with:
sudo dhclient eth0 -r
--> ok, no routes
sudo dhclient eth0
--> ok, all routes there
sudo dhclient eth0
--> default gate
Here is a small patch for dhcp3-client 3.1.1-5ubuntu2 that fixes this in my
test setup.
The documentation states that REBOOT can be processed as BOUND, so this is what
I changed there. Before the routes were added only in the initial BOUND case,
whereas now subsequent REBOOT cases are covered as

Thanks for reminding me. The any device has indeed returned. I can't

Being unhappy with the increasing fsync frequency of applications in
general and misguided calls for even more fsyncs for ext4, I've finally
given up and disabled fsync() system wide. After all that time liferea
is now usable once again :)
