With KUbuntu 16.04 plasmashell is still crashing with segmentation fault. Check your ~/.config and ~/.cache for Root permissions. Change the permissions recursively to your username. This might help. You may also type these commands: kbuildsycoca5 && kquitapp plasmashell && kstart plasmashell

The same happens with KUbuntu 15.10 Wily Werwolf. Plasma is very unstable. I tried to disable *all* Desktop Effects (System Settings; don't forget the "not supportet by compositor" and "internal" desktop effects!). So the plasmashell crashes occur only seldom. -- You received this bug
