There are posts all over the net from linux users with RTL8111/8168B
experiencing poor network performance (usually lots of dropped packets).
The best solution seems to be to blacklist the r8169 driver and use the
r8168 driver instead.
E.g. see:
Kind of an annoying bug for users with new hardware, this bug is bound
to pester many.
Newly bought box with on-board realtec NIC:
Base Board Information
Manufacturer: MSI
Product Name: H61M-E33 (MS-7680)
Version: 2.0
04:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor
I see the same problem over here on a REV6 chip. I have had to resort
to completely disabling the onboard NIC (Realtek R8168B) and put in an
Intel PCI Express NIC so I can have functional connectivity.

Hi all.
So is there no further work planned for this bug? I have this same
chipset in two PC's. The rev 03 in my server works great; the rev 06
like listed here is another matter.
It did not work out-of-the-box for either 9.10 [32bit], 10.04 + 10.10
[64bit]. The only functionality I can get out
I tried the same test on another system with same NIC, but can't
reproduce the issue. Mark this as invalid for now.
