Mark promised a different theme for 10.04. They just could not allocate
much resources on the design of a new theme in Karmic. Even though I
agree with the rest about the human theme being not attractive there are
people that actually find it pretty and smooth.
On the practical side there are
Mark Shuttleworth has been bothered enough about themes. He should know
where priorities stand so far with the desktop edition. I am not blaming him
nor insulting him, I am just reminding him what hundreds, possibly thousands
of others have already bothered him with.
With the release of gnome 3 ,
I think it's stuck with that look because they aimed for the new
splash screen software... Or because they wanted newbies to have a
"stable" picture of ubuntu as an operating system. Either way, we just
have to wait and see the next stable version, 10.04!
