It should be fairly straightforward to backport to a PPA (look at the
`backportpackage` script).
If you're running it in an enterprise environment I'd assume you (or some
other employee) already do packaging.

And we can't just upgrade a package on all enterprise users' systems.
They use LTS releases because that's exactly what they don't want
