It looks like the package *does* declare the modaliases in the control
file (took a deb from the trusty archives).
But the package is not included in the iso at all. I can't even apt-get
install it manually (that is a good test of its absence right?).

Having the binary drivers at least for the iso sounds doable (in my limited
understandind) as these drivers are GPL and not PUEL.
But I'll just check out what robie suggested anyway.. I hadn't thought of
the other deps.. will get back with results shortly.
