There are bugs discussing this. Unfortunately if we just sync it looks
like we break upgrades.
Request to remove wine1.6 so we can sync 1.8 from debian

Apparently wine maintenance in Ubuntu is dead. Scott Ritchie (the Ubuntu
wine maintainer) seems inactive for some time. I suggest syncing all
wine packages from Debian.
