GNOME 3.20 crashes with NVIDIA propriety driver

I'm using the staging PPA on Xenial, which works fine for me on all my other computers that use Intel GPUs. But, for my one machine that has an NVIDIA GPU, it doesn't. I tried using drivers version 364 and 367 with the same result. Doing a ppa-purge solves the problem, so it works fine with 3.18.
