Ok, I have tried some of the packages. And there is none which can replace Tally. GNUCash is not near Tally, because Tally is specific to Indian Economy. Othrs pointed in This discussion are too not specific. Kalculate is good, but again not free and OpenSource.
What Tally has specifics: Like integration of Service Tax, TDS, VAT, Double Enty, Multiple company acct, multiple ledger heads in companies, balancesheet processing etc. Though, no such initiative has been taken. So what is the next step? Is there people ready to go for it? Developers, please raise your hand.
